Doda, Aug 12: Chief Electrol Officer issued a Notice regarding revised Schedule of Special revision of Municipal Electoral Roll-2023 Municipal Corporation whereas, Special Summary Revision of Municipal Electoral Rolls for the Municipal Corporations w.r.t 01-07-2023 as the qualifying date was notified by the Chief Electoral Officer, Jammu and Kashmir in exercise of powers
vested under Section 9(1) of the Jammu and Kashmir Municipal Corporation
Act, 2000;
According to News Agency Buland Awaaz (BAN) it is mentioned that whereas, draft rolls were published on 1st August 2023 and the claims and objections were to be filed upto 11th August 2023 in terms of the schedule notified therein; whereas, various field functionaries including those in the Municipal Corporations have approached the Election Authority to extend the period of filing claims and objections as the last revision was done in 2020 and since then three years have lapsed and a large number of young voters who have attained the eligibility age after 2020 need to be added in the said rolls.
Now therefore, the Chief Electoral Officer, Jammu and Kashmir in exercise of powers vested under Section 9(1) of the Jammu and Kashmir Municipal Corporation Act, 2000 hereby extends the period of filing claims and objections upto 18th August 2023 and consequently, the schedule notified as part of the Public Notice issued under endorsement No. CEO- MEOROER/1/2023-1/254-68 dated 28-07-2023 shall be deemed to have been revised as under:-
1. Period for filing of claims and objections 01-08-2023 (Tuesday) to 18-08-2023. (Friday).
2. Special Camp at the Polling Stations 13-08-2023 (Sunday).
3.Disposal of claims and objections 22-08-2023 (Tuesday).
4.Updation of Electoral Rolls 26-08-2023 (Saturday).
5.Final publication of Electoral Rolls 29-08-2023 (Tuesday).
All Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) concerned shall give vide publicity to the revised schedule.
