Elderline holds Awareness/ Sensitisation programme at Doda

0 Doda, November 24; An awareness cum Sensitisation programme on Elderline 14567 was held at Doda today in the Conference hall of DC office complex.
Deputy commissioner Doda, Vishesh Paul Mahajan also reviewed the functioning of Elderline in the Doda District. Programme was attended by DC, SSP, CPO, SDM’s, Tehsildars, DSWO and Field Response Leader (FRL) JK Elderline.
Elderline is an initiative of Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment Government of India and it is being implemented by HelpAge India in collaboration with department of Social Welfare Government of J&K. 14567 is helpline number available for elderly and senior citizens from 8am to 8pm, if they need any legal, medical, emotional or any other kind of help. On this occasion FRL, JK Elderline gave a detailed power point presentation on the functioning of Elderline. He also discussed the role of different stakeholders involved.
Deputy commissioner instructed all SDM’s and tehsildars to nominate one person from every village who will be one point contact for promotion of elderline. He also instructed them to identify a room at tehsil level which can be used as temporary shelter for Elderly. Deputy commissioner instructed FRL, JK Elderline that inputs should be given to the ministry, this helpline should be made operational for 24*7. He also assured full support to the Elderline for its smooth functioning.
